What is an EU VAT Number (VAT ID)?
An EU VAT ID is a unique identifier used by businesses to ensure correct handling of VAT payments for cross-border transactions within the European Union. It is essential for companies trading goods or services between EU member states.
Structure of an EU VAT ID:
Country Code: Two letters representing the EU member state (e.g., DE for Germany, AT for Austria)
Unique Identifier: A number or letter sequence unique to each business. The format and length vary by country.
Examples:
Germany: DE123456789
Austria: ATU12345678
Netherlands: NL123456789B01
Poland: PL1234567890
France: FR12345678901
Spain: ESX12345678
Italy: IT12345678901
Common Problems and Solutions:
Incorrect Country Code: Ensure the code matches your country of registration.
Incorrect Format: Check the length and characters or use an online validation tool.
Invalid VAT ID: Double-check for typos and use the EU VIES service to validate.
National vs. International VAT ID: Make sure your VAT ID is registered for intra-community (EU) transactions.

We cannot approve business accounts without a valid EU VAT ID. Make sure your number is correct and registered for intra-community transactions before submitting your registration.
